How is The ARC funded?
The ARC of Monroe County receives funding
through donations, fundraising events, grants, and financial support from the United Way of Monroe County. Individuals can support The ARC through their memberships, charitable donations, and planned gifts such as wills, trusts, and life insurance.
Membership support enables The ARC to:
- Offer guidance to those who need and want help;
- Monitor progress made in the area of inclusion, such as education, employment,
community living, and recreation;
- Make the public aware of the needs, rights and abilities of people with developmental
disabilities;
- Encourage progressive legislation;
- Develop and promote effective programs and services;
- Promote and apply research to enhance independence;
- Educate the public on precautions that can be taken to prevent developmental disabilities, including Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and alcohol-related birth defects;
- Promote opportunities to contribute time and talent through volunteering.
